The JOY of What Comes Next | Creighton University Graduation Sessions

There’s something incredibly special about graduation sessions at Creighton University (especially since it is my alma mater).

Every senior walks into their session carrying years of hard work, memories, friendships, uncertainty, growth, and excitement for whatever comes next. And no two stories ever feel the same.

Some graduates are stepping into careers they’ve dreamed about for years. Some are still thoughtfully figuring out their next step. Some are celebrating alongside the people who helped them get there.

This group of sessions felt especially joyful… full of laughter, personality, meaningful details, and so much anticipation for the future.

Yazmin’s session felt so genuine from start to finish. As she prepares to graduate from Creighton, she’s thoughtfully exploring what comes next, considering furthering her education while taking time to work in the field before making the commitment.

I loved getting to talk with her throughout the session about life after graduation, the pressure of figuring everything out, and the excitement that comes with stepping into a brand new season. She asked the kind of thoughtful questions that stayed with me long after the session ended, and it was such a joy celebrating this milestone with her.

Todd and Makaela’s session was full of the kind of joy you can physically feel when you’re around people who genuinely love doing life together. Newly married and celebrating Todd’s graduation from law school, the entire session felt equal parts meaningful and playful.

Makaela brought the sweetest personalized details and props, but somehow their dog, Laney, quickly became the true star of the show. Between the constant laughter, candid moments, and the way they loved each other on throughout the session, it was impossible not to leave smiling.

Hailee’s session was the perfect reminder that graduation photos can still feel completely personal and fashion-forward. Instead of focusing on the traditional cap-and-gown look, she leaned into the details that represented everything she had accomplished: her honor cords, hood, tam, and the most incredible shoes.

And honestly? When your name now includes “J.D.,” who even needs the gown?

Her session felt confident, elevated, and completely true to her style while celebrating such an incredible accomplishment.

One of my favorite things about graduation season is being reminded that there’s no single path into adulthood, success, or the future.

Some graduates walk away with a perfectly mapped-out plan. Others are still discovering what fits (myself included). Some celebrate alongside lifelong partners, family members, or best friends who helped carry them through.

But every story deserves to be celebrated.

And getting to document these moments at Creighton University will forever be one of the sweetest parts of graduation season.

Graduation deserves to be celebrated in a way that feels personal to you. If you’re planning your own college graduation session at Creighton University or anywhere in the Omaha area, I would love to help you create something joyful, meaningful, and completely true to your story.
