The Magic of a Summer Evening | Grace's Senior Session
Some senior sessions just stick with you.
Not because everything went perfectly, but because every little piece came together to create something unforgettable. Something that felt like your favorite summer story unfolding.
From the moment Grace stepped out of the car, I knew this session was going to be special. She came with such a clear vision, and from the very beginning, it felt like we had stepped into a dreamy summer story. Every outfit reflected her timeless style, from the silk scarf tied perfectly in her hair to the coolest yellow Frye boots that somehow looked like they were made for this session.
Grace has incredible taste, and it showed in every detail.
A Senior Session That Felt Like Her
One of my favorite parts of every senior session is finding ways to make it personal.
For Grace, that meant creating photos that felt effortless, adventurous, and completely true to who she is.
And of course, no adventure is complete without the perfect soundtrack.
We spent the evening singing along to Elton John, ABBA, and Fleetwood Mac as we wandered from one location to the next. Between the music, the laughter, and the stories we shared, it hardly felt like a photoshoot at all. Honestly, her music taste was every bit as good as her wardrobe.
I'll admit, we kept glancing up at the sky wondering if the sun was ever going to make an appearance.
It was one of those evenings where the forecast kept us guessing, and after a very warm midwest summer day, we weren't sure what kind of light we'd end up with.
But sometimes, nature has a way of rewarding a little patience.
Just when we thought the clouds might stick around, the sun peeked through for exactly the light we needed. It wasn't the biggest sunset I've ever photographed. It didn't have to be. The soft golden light spilling across the hills was more than enough to make the entire evening feel magical.
We finished the night with a hike to one of my favorite overlooks. By then we were definitely feeling the summer heat, but Grace never once complained. She climbed the hill with a smile, trusted every crazy idea I threw her way, and embraced every part of the adventure.
Those moments almost always become my favorites. Not because they're perfectly planned, but because they're real. Because years from now, I hope Grace remembers more than just the photos.
I hope she remembers dancing to Fleetwood Mac, laughing with her mom and sister, hiking through the heat, and watching the sun finally peek through just in time.
Those are the moments that make a senior session unforgettable.
The Best Kind of Support Team
One thing I loved about this evening was having Grace's mom and sister along for the adventure.
They were her biggest cheerleaders all night long, helping with outfits, hyping her up, and making sure every laugh came naturally.
Senior sessions are always about celebrating one person, but it's so special when the people who love them most get to be part of the memories, too.
