I’m Claire, the owner & photographer of Claire Petersen Photography. I love being able to share in the love of a family and feel blessed to get to work with such wonderful families!
Based out of Avoca, IA I am a mom to 2 young, energetic boys who always keep me on my toes! I love chasing them around (especially at the farm) and capturing their personalities on camera. Candid photos are always my favorite.
I married my husband in 2013 in Omaha and we moved shortly after to Southwest Iowa. I never imagined living in a small town but wouldn’t have it any other way.

Q: What sets you apart from other photographers?
A: Newborn photos hold such a special place in my heart. The way babies grow and change so quickly is truly remarkable, making it essential to capture every precious detail. I bring extra patience and flexibility to each session, allowing time for feedings, snuggles, and ensuring that older siblings are taken care of as well. My goal is to create a relaxed atmosphere where you feel comfortable, while beautifully documenting this unforgettable chapter in your life.
Q: Will we get the print release to our photos?
A: Yes! The print release is included in your contract. .
Q: What is your turn around time?
A: Contractually I promise photos back within 4 weeks. Barring no life changing events, I do return them sooner.
Q: Will my photos be posted publicly on your site or social media?
A: I completely respect your privacy and allow each client to decide whether or not they want their photos displayed publicly. I’d love to show off you & your images, if you’re game! If not, that's okay, too.
Q: Will you Photoshop my images to hide any unwanted spots, wrinkles, etc?
A: Minor edits will be made to all of your images, but I believe our imperfections are what make us beautiful & unique. If there are specific edits you want, these will be charged according to the number and complexity of edits.
